How we handle personal data
We follow the principles of the Data Protection Act in handling personal data. For example, we
will:
Process your data fairly and lawfully, and tell you why we are collecting it
Only use it for specified and lawful purposes
Only collect the data we need
Do our best to ensure it is accurate and up to date. You can help us by telling us about any change of circumstances
Keep it no longer than necessary
Respect your rights to see your own data and other rights under the Data Protection Act
Keep and dispose of it securely
We will only share your personal data with other organisations if it is stated at the point of collection or if it is necessary to fulfil our statutory powers and duties, or to check accuracy, or to prevent and detect crime. We will not share your personal data with other organisations for commercial purposes.
We will not use it to market products or services to you without your consent
Your rights to see the information we hold about you
You have the right to be told what information we hold about you and to be supplied with a copy
of it, unless any exemptions apply under the Act.
There is a statutory charge of £10 for providing your data.
We will provide the data within 40 calendar days.
We may ask you to provide proof of identity before we release the data.
If the documents you require include information about other people (“3rd parties”), we may edit
this out.
Find out what personal data we hold on you
If you want to see information we hold about you, this is called a ‘Subject Access Request’.
It will help us if you can indicate what information you are interested in, or which department may hold the data. If it is not clear to us what you want, we will contact you and ask for more details.
If you have any difficulty in completing the form, please contact Nick Smart – The Data
